20 Feb Happiness Factor: How to Stop Using External Gratification as Excuses to Avoiding Inside Work
Stop me if you’ve ever thought this to yourself, “I’ll be happy when…”
How many people believe that happiness is a fleeting emotion to be captured like some rare butterfly in a tiny net? How many people believe that their next degree, certificate, car, home or promotion will be their ticket to happiness? Now, raise your hand if this is true. Hmmmmm, still waiting.
Happiness is an inside job my friends. Do not let society lull you into thinking otherwise. Otherwise, you will be metaphorically like that hamster on the wheel that never stops. Get off now and consider spending some time contemplating the deeper reasons for your life. Do you really think you were born just to go to school, get a job, have a family, retire and die? Or is there more to life? Answers to these questions can be illuminated through a practice involving mindfulness. Happiness comes from an inner, deep understanding that all life is connected and that you have an important role to play. Are you ready to be happy?
