On the Importance of the Breath

Being aware of your breath is so important. Most people are not even aware that they are shallow breathing most of the time. They rush so quickly from one thing to another, they do not even notice that their breathing is also rushed! Breath IS life, so it is important that we learn how to do it correctly! When was the last time you slowed down enough to pay attention to your in-breath and out-breath? If you take yoga, you know how important it is to breathe properly in each of the asanas or poses. Arguably, true yoga only happens when the mind and body are connected. The breath helps us with this connection.

Take a few minutes each day to gently connect to your breath. Notice the rise and fall of your abdomen as you breathe deeply in…. and… out….. Notice how you move through your day with greater awareness, calmness and clarity. Ahhhh, now, doesn’t that feel better? Remember, Just Breathe (mindfully!).

Therapy can often be enhanced or extended past the usual direct sessions by including Deep Breathing audio in your daily practice.
